Ian Roberts is a Level 3 certified personal trainer in Aberdeen, specialising in fat loss, muscle building and strength and conditioning for men over 40. Based at PureGym Aberdeen Kittybrewster — serving Aberdeen, Kittybrewster, Woodside and Old Aberdeen — he helps clients build long-term sustainable results with no quick fixes.

Fitness has always been his passion. But like most men, life got busy — work, family, responsibilities — and for a long stretch he lost his way. When he realised it was time to change things, for himself and for the people around him, he committed to making fitness a core part of his life again.

Do I need gym experience to train with Ian?
No, you don't need any gym experience. Ian builds every programme around your current fitness level and teaches you the basics from day one. Most of his clients started as complete beginners — you are not the odd one out.
I'm over 40 — is it too late to start?
No, it is absolutely not too late. Men over 40 are Ian's specialism precisely because this is the best time to train properly — recovery, sleep and strength all improve quickly when the plan is built for your body, not a 25-year-old's.
Where does Ian train his clients?
Ian trains clients at PureGym Aberdeen Kittybrewster — Kittybrewster Retail Park, Bedford Road, AB24 3LJ. There is free parking on site and the gym has everything needed for strength work, conditioning and cardio.
What does the free consultation include?
The free consultation is a no-pressure chat where Ian learns about your goals, your history, any injuries, and how your life currently looks. You leave with a clear sense of whether the programme is right for you — no commitment, no sales push.
Do you help with nutrition as well as training?
Yes. Nutritional guidance is built into every programme because training without the right food underneath it will not deliver long-term change. Ian gives you a realistic plan that fits your life — not a crash diet.
How long before I see results?
Most clients feel stronger and more energetic within three to four weeks. Visible body composition changes typically start showing around the eight to twelve week mark — sooner if nutrition is dialled in from day one.
